Christmas Time.

I love this time of year, but as I get older, I feel like I am beginning to just go through the motions of the Christmas season. I love the snow and the purity that it adds to the world around us, but I really don't enjoy playing in it anymore. I love Christmas music playing in our home, but I really don't need more noise to compete with the noise level that already exists in our home. I love giving gifts to others, but it can be really expensive. I love having the Christmas tree up and all of our decorations, but our house is pretty crowded already. So, I say to myself... bah humbug!
To help me get in the true spirit of the Christmas season, we have started a new family tradition this year. Each day in the month of December, we look for a way to serve someone outside of our home. It has been such a great experience thus far. It doesn't even have to be anything big. Yesterday, it consisted of one of the boys holding a door open for another shopper while entering the store. But, it is helping us see how truly blessed we are and looking for ways to help others around us. For what better gift can we give to others!
